St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children Receives Tenet Circle of Excellence Award



 

PHILADELPHIA – April 28, 2008 – St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children has been selected to Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s (NYSE: THC) 2008 Circle of Excellence.  This is the second consecutive year that the hospital has received the award.             

The Circle of Excellence honors those Tenet hospitals that have performed at the highest levels in the past year in the areas of quality, service and operation performance.  Key factors involved in the process include patient, physician and employee satisfaction scores, clinical quality scores and financial performance.             

“The hard work and dedication of the employees at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children made 2007 a great year for the hospital,” said Stephen Newman, M.D., Tenet’s chief operating officer.  “I’m proud of all that they accomplished and am thrilled to honor them with Tenet’s Circle of Excellence Award.”            

Dr. Newman also praised the hospital executive team, led by Chief Executive Officer Bernadette Mangan, for their hard work and leadership in the past year.  “Health care is a business that requires dedication, passion and strong leadership skills to achieve positive results.  The executive team, employees and vitally important medical staff at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children performed incredibly well in 2007, and I congratulate them on their successes.”            

Mangan, Chief Operating Officer Jeff Snyder, Chief Financial Officer Gil Cottle and Chief Nursing Officer Karen Blount helped lead the hospital to high balanced scorecard metrics for quality and high scores for patient satisfaction.  The hospital ranked among the top five Tenet hospitals on these metrics.            

St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is a 170-bed pediatric hospital located at 3601 A Street in Philadelphia, PA that has an academic affiliation with Drexel University College of Medicine and the Temple University School of Medicine.
