The Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) at St. Christopher's is an intensive care unit dedicated to the care of critically ill infants and children with congenital and acquired heart disease. Using a multidisplinary approach, the Cardiothoracic Surgery Section, the Section of Cardiology, and the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care provide care for critically ill patients before and after cardiac surgery. The eight-bed CCU is staffed by registered nurses who specialize in the care of pediatric cardiac patient.
