Daily Inpatient Schedule
6:30-7:15 Signout and pre-round on your patients
7:15-8:00 Work Rounds
8:00-8:30 Chief Rounds (chief residents review interesting cases with the house staff)
8:30-9:30 Continuation of Work Rounds if necessary
9:30-10:00 Subspecialty Rounds
10:30-10:45 Radiology Rounds
12:00-1pm Noon conference
2pm-3pm Attending rounds (3 times weekly. Topic discussion with the attending)
6:30 pm Sign out (night float arrives. Once the senior resident is comfortable that the residents have a handle on their patients, a "short call" system is employed, which allows you to leave by 5pm 1-2 times weekly)

ER Schedule
Our residents work 10-11 hr shifts on weekdays and 12 hour shifts on the weekends. Friday mornings from 7:30 am-11:00am there is protected educational time which is composed of grand rounds, radiology rounds, journal club, lectures on various Emergency Medicine topics, and a mock code. In the PL-2 and Pl-3 years, your weekend calls are covered by residents on elective.

*Tuesday and Thursday are clinic days. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are operating room days during which residents will select interesting cases to participate in. Residents on this rotation will periodically cover jeopardy and weekend call in the ICU.
Outpatient Pediatrics Schedule
8am-8:30am Chief Rounds
8:30-9am Clinic talk (lecture presented by fellow residents on various topics)
9am-noon Patient care and telephone triage
noon-1pm Noon conference
1pm-4pm Patient care and telephone triage
4pm-5pm Charting and phone calls
*Residents on this rotation may periodically cover weekend call for the inpatient units or ICU

5:45am Wake up, realize that you don't have to go to work and fall back asleep

8pm Invite your classmates who you know are working the next day to a day trip to New York City. When they say "I can't, I'm working", you reply, "Oh yeah, I forgot, ha ha" (evil laugh).
