Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children provides comprehensive care to children and adolescents in need of emergent or urgent care for all medical or trauma related emergencies. The Department of Emergency Medicine, a Level 1 Trauma Center, treats over 45,000 pediatric patients annually. The 9,500 sq. ft. center contains 24 examination and resuscitation rooms. The Emergency Center provides 24 hours per day/seven days per week care with board certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians in attendance at all times. Pediatric and surgical subspecialty care is available for consultation as needed.

St. Christopher’s has a critical care transport service available to referral centers 24 hours per day / 7 days per week. The team is comprised of nurses and paramedics who, under medical direction, provide basic, advanced and critical care during inter-facility transport.
