St. Christopher's Hospital Surgeon-in-Chief To Lead American Pediatric Surgical AssociationDecember 07, 2009Marshall Z. Schwartz, M.D. Leader in Numerous Prestigious Medical Organizations; Frequently Honored by Peers Many surgeons throughout the country know Marshall Schwartz, M.D., surgeon-in-chief at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, as a visionary in pediatric healthcare. In addition to his depth of clinical experience, work as a basic science investigator and dedication to the numerous families and young patients he treats at St. Chris, he helps shape the profession of pediatric surgery through his leadership in several respected and renowned surgical organizations. Most recently, Dr. Schwartz was appointed as president-elect of the American Pediatric Surgical Association. He will assume the presidency of the organization in May 2010. In addition, this year, he also began a six-year tenure on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Surgery Residency Review Committee. Dr. Schwartz was recently appointed to the American College of Surgeons Board of Regents. The College’s 22-member Board of Regents formulates policy and is ultimately responsible for managing the affairs of the College.
