 | St. Christopher's Hospital for Children Names Employee of the Year June 23, 2009
Angela Koeneker, a senior child life specialist at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, was recently selected as the hospital’s Employee of the Year. The award recognizes an employee who exceeds expectations in providing exceptional care to patients and families at St. Christopher's.
Koeneker has worked in the Child Life Department at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children since 2006. As a child life specialist, she provides emotional support for patients and their families through play, preparation, education and self-expression activities. In addition to providing care to cancer patients and other patients on the medical-surgical floors, Koeneker manages the Child Life internship program, providing supervision and guidance for students training to become child life specialists.
Over the last two years, Koeneker has organized the Oncology Art Show, which helps oncology patients share their stories through art. She is also a valuable member of the “Camp Can Do” team that works with the American Cancer Society in organizing and planning weeklong camp experiences for the patients. |
