Visiting a Patient > Guidelines

St. Christopher's has several guidelines in place to protect the safety and health of our patients, as well as our visitors.

Visitor IDs

St. Christopher’s Hospital requires all hospital visitors to sign in at the front desk and obtain visitor passes. These passes must be worn at all times in the hospital to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and staff members.

Visiting in the ICU

Parents and guardians have 24-hour access to visit patients, but special precautions must be taken while visiting ICU patients. We ask that all visitors to the ICU stay away if they are sick in order to protect the health and well-being of all ICU patients.

These guidelines apply to all critical care units including the ICU, CICU, Special Care Unit/Burn unit, and NICU.

See our visiting hours.

Cell Phones

St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children prohibits the use of cellular phones and/or radio transmitters in patient care areas by the general public to provide a safe environment and avoid interference problems between radio frequency transmission devices and patient care equipment.  Cellular phones should be turned off completely and not left in stand-by position, and any other hand-held transmitting device should not be keyed or activated in the hospital.

Cameras

In order to protect the privacy of our patients, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children may restrict the use of cameras and recording devices in particular situations that compromise patient safety and privacy.

Smoking

St. Christopher’s Hospital is a smoke-free facility and patients, visitors, and employees are asked to refrain from using tobacco products on all hospital property, including outdoor areas and parking lots.

Alcohol & Drugs

St. Christopher’s Hospital does not permit the use of alcohol or drugs on hospital property, including outdoor areas and parking lots.

Security

St. Christopher’s Hospital has a full-time security force that is able to provide escorts to families if requested. Walking escorts are available 24 hours a day to patients and families. If you would like an escort, please call the Information Desk at (215) 427-5355.
