Kidney Transplantation
St. Christopher’s Kidney Center for Children is a uniquely integrated program bringing together pediatric experts in nephrology, urology and transplant surgery, who are assisted by specialized nursing and supporting child-centered caregivers. Our transplant program is at the cutting edge of kidney transplant care and is one of the few programs in the country to offer steroid-free care, if requested. We have performed more than 430 kidney transplants since 1971.
Our program is a team effort that includes pediatric kidney specialists (nephrologists), transplant surgeons, urologists, anesthesiologists, dialysis specialists, nurses, social workers, child life specialists and dietary specialists who all have training and experience in working with the unique needs of children. This comprehensive family-oriented approach helps children and families children with end stage kidney disease return to normal life through dialysis and kidney transplants.
