Endocrinology
The Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders offers comprehensive clinical services, research and training opportunities. Our faculty and staff provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for children and adolescents with:
- Thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary diseases
- Disorders of growth and pubertal development
- Diabetes mellitus, hypoglycemia, and metabolic syndrome
- Disorders of mineral metabolism
In addition, the section has an established fellowship training program and our faculty is involved in a variety of basic science and clinical research projects.
Since diabetes mellitus (both type 1 and type 2) can have a profound effect on the life of a child and his/her family, teams of physicians, nurses, certified diabetes educators, social workers and nutritionists in our diabetes service employ a multidisciplinary approach to provide medical care, education and support to our patients and their caregivers.
