Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition

The Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition provides outpatient and inpatient evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of gastrointestinal, liver and nutritional disorders in infants, children and adolescents.

 

Typical patient digestive issues and disorders include:

·         abdominal pain

·         constipation

·         gastroesophageal reflux

·         diarrhea and malabsorption syndromes

·         celiac disease

·         inflammatory bowel disease

·         intestinal bleeding

 

Liver diseases include:

·         jaundice

·         hyperbilirubinemia

·         viral and autoimmune hepatitis

·         liver failure

·         neonatal cholestasis

·         metabolic liver disease

 

Nutritional diseases include failure to thrive, feeding disorders and short bowel syndrome. Evaluations and treatment include specialized enteral and parenteral nutrition.

Our physicians are board-certified in both pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology, an advanced subspecialty fellowship. Our multidisciplinary team also consists of nurse practitioners, nurses and nutritionists.

 

The Section is actively involved in research and various opportunities exist for trainees to participate.
