Immunology

St. Christopher’s Section of Immunology provides services for children with known or suspected immunodeficiency disorders including HIV/AIDS. The section includes the Primary Immunodeficiency Program and the Pediatric and Adolescent HIV/AIDS Program.

The Primary Immunodeficiency Program provides specialty care for infants, children, and teens with suspected and known primary immunodeficiency. Included in our patient population are patients with Chronic Granulomatous Disease, Bruton’s Agammaglobulinemia, and Job’s Syndrome among others. Assistance with providing home intravenous immunoglobulin is provided for our patients. Our medical team is available for telephone consultation for primary care providers who may suspect that a patient has immunodeficiency and will assist in setting up an appointment.

The Pediatric and Adolescent HIV/AIDS Program provides primary and specialty HIV/AIDS care for HIV exposed newborns, for HIV positive infants, children, and teens, and their HIV affected family members. Program staff are available to assist with questions involving the use of HIV testing in primary care settings, assistance with HIV positive post-test counseling, and for newly positive HIV patients. The immunology staff conducts the Family Program, which provides comprehensive care to HIV-infected children and their families.

For information or to schedule an appointment call (215) 427-5284. For urgent issues at times other than regular clinic hours, please call (215) 427-5000 and ask for the physician on call for immunology.
