Nephrology

St. Christopher’s Kidney Center for Children is a uniquely integrated program bringing together pediatric experts in nephrology, urology and transplant surgery, and assisted by specialized nursing supporting child-centered caregivers. The Center provides for the evaluation and care of children with acute and chronic kidney disease, urinary tract infections, kidney stones, hypertension (high blood pressure), and all types of body fluid and chemistry disturbances.

The Kidney Center includes a nationally recognized dialysis and transplant program. Our transplant program is at the cutting edge of kidney transplant care and is one of the few programs in the country to offer steroid-free care, if requested. We have performed more than 430 kidney transplants since 1971. Our Transplant program is coordinated with our dialysis team to ensure every child is afforded the opportunity to receive a kidney transplant in a rapid, efficient and safe manner, allowing for a return to a more normal life.

The Center’s pediatric nephrologists have more than 70 years combined experience in caring for children with kidney disease. These leading pediatric nephrologists are available at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, Cooper University Medical Center/Children’s Regional Hospital in Camden, Moorestown and Voorhees N.J., and at St. Luke's Medical Center in Bethlehem, Pa. The Center’s physicians, faculty members at the Drexel University College of Medicine, are also a major educational resource for local pediatric and family physicians.
