Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy uses purposeful activity to facilitate independence and functioning in children suffering from injury, disability or chronic illness. At St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children the focus is on development of movement as it relates to upper extremity/fine motor skills, perceptual and sensorimotor abilities, self-care and social skills.
The therapists offer:
- Developmental/neonatal evaluation/treatment
- Upper extremity/fine motor evaluation/treatment (muscle testing, strengthening, re-education, coordination training, range of motion)
- Visual Perceptual/Visual Motor assessment and intervention
- Sensorimotor assessment and intervention
- Self-Care assessment/treatment (feeding, dressing, personal hygiene, functional communication and mobility skills)
- Splint fabrication and other assistive devices to promote independence
- Seating and mobility evaluations
- Scar management

St. Chris has a highly qualified team of occupational therapists who are specially trained to work with the individual and unique needs of pediatric patients.
