Oncology
The Section of Oncology at St. Christopher’s Hospital is a comprehensive cancer center. We provide compassionate family-centered care. We are a designated institution of The Children’s Oncology Group providing a wide range of state-of-the-art therapies and clinical trials. We have various treatments for all childhood cancers as well as dedicated neuro-oncology and stem cell transplant programs. There are many resources available for our families, including a child life program and psycho-social services.
Our pediatric oncology outpatient clinic is staffed daily by pediatric oncology physicians, pediatric oncology nurse practitioners, pediatric oncology nurses, child life specialists, dieticians, social workers, and a chemotherapy pharmacist.
We provide onsite facilities for conscious sedation and procedures, an infusion center, radiology facilities, onsite Internet access to radiology studies, and onsite phlebotomy service.
Our inpatient unit is staffed by pediatric oncology nurses. There are in-room sleeping accommodations for one parent, full private bathrooms in each room and anterooms to reduce the risk of infection. The rooms also have TVs, phones, and an assortment of DVD and entertainment systems. There is a family lounge for oncology families with common facilities to use, one-on-one class time with teachers and Internet facilities. We have teen, infant/toddler and school-age playrooms staffed by child life professionals. We also arrange private play for children in isolation.
