Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy at St. Christopher’s Hospital addresses patients who are experiencing muscular, musculoskeletal, neurological and skeletal problems as a result of birth, injury or illness. The focus is on gross motor skills, coordination and achieving physical potential. Each patient is evaluated individually and a goal-oriented program is developed.
The therapists offer:
- Developmental and orthopedic evaluation/treatment
- Gait assessment and training
- Posture/scoliosis evaluation/treatment
- Functional mobility evaluation
- Home exercise programs
- Casting/splinting
- Seating/equipment evaluation/training
- Pain management instruction
- Education and instruction to patients/parents/caregivers
- Consultation with school therapists/educators
Children who may benefit from physical therapy include those with the following conditions:
- Burns/Scars
- Developmental delay
- Neuromuscular conditions such as dystrophy
- Neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida
- Orthopedic conditions
- Chronic pain
- Strength and endurance deficits
