Visitor Policy & Rules

At St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, we have a visitor’s policy in place to ensure that you and your child have a safe, pleasant, and comfortable stay. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about the visitor rules below.

Visitor IDs

St. Christopher’s requires all hospital visitors to sign in at the front desk and obtain visitor passes. These passes must be worn at all times in the hospital to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and staff members.

Visiting in the ICU

Parents and guardians have 24-hour access to visit patients, but special precautions must be taken while visiting ICU patients. We ask that all visitors to the ICU stay away if they are sick in order to protect the health and well-being of all ICU patients.

These guidelines apply to all critical care units including the ICU, CICU, Special Care Unit/Burn unit and NICU. For more information, see our visiting hours.

Cell Phones

St. Christopher’s prohibits the use of cellular phones and/or radio transmitters in children’s care areas by the general public to provide a safe environment and avoid interference problems between radio frequency transmission devices and equipment. Cell phones should be turned off completely and not left in stand-by position, and any other hand-held transmitting device shouldn’t be keyed or activated in the hospital.

In order to protect your privacy, St. Christopher’s may restrict the use of cameras and recording devices in particular situations that compromise your child’s safety and privacy.

St. Christopher’s is a smoke-free facility and all visitors and employees are asked to refrain from using tobacco products on all hospital property, including outdoor areas and parking lots.

Alcohol & Drugs

St. Christopher’s doesn’t permit the use of alcohol or drugs on hospital property, including outdoor areas and parking lots.

St. Christopher’s has a full-time security force that is able to provide escorts to families if requested. Walking escorts are available 24 hours a day to you and your family. If you would like an escort, please call Security at (215) 427-5326.

St. Christopher’s prohibits employees and visitors from possessing weapons of any type on hospital property, including outdoor areas and parking lots. Weapons are defined as guns, knives and other instruments that could cause harm.
