Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT / Otolaryngology)

St. Christopher's staff of otolaryngologists (ENTs) provides advanced diagnosis and treatment of disorders of human communication, hearing impairment and problems of the pediatric airway and voice. Comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic and reconstructive surgical services are available on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.

The team of board-certified specialists includes a rhinologist who performs endoscopic sinus surgery; two airway specialists who perform laryngotracheal reconstructive surgery; a head and neck specialist and a general pediatric otolaryngologist.

St. Christopher’s boasts airway endoscopy with video screening as well as cochlear implant equipment and technicians trained to work with the processing equipment. The Section is also active in the Airway Program, which provides a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of airway abnormalities. The Cochlear Implant Program identifies and treats candidates age one and above who are suitable for cochlear implants - complex electronic devices that help provide a sense of sound to profoundly deaf or severely hard-of-hearing individuals.

Looking toward the future, the Section is focusing its research efforts on obstructive sleep apnea, a sleep disorder, the surgical correction of laryngotracheal stenosis, pediatric sinus disease, pediatric voice disorders and care for the hearing-impaired.
