Cancer Care

Children diagnosed with cancer need specialized care from specialists whose jobs are focused on pediatric cancers. And that’s just what you’ll find at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. St. Christopher’s is a designated institution of The Children’s Oncology Group, providing a wide range of advanced therapies and clinical trials. At St. Christopher’s, oncology specialists provide a variety of treatments for all childhood cancers, including neuro-oncology and stem cell transplant programs.

The pediatric oncology outpatient clinic is staffed daily by pediatric oncology doctors, including radiation oncologists, pediatric oncology nurse practitioners and nurses, child life specialists, dieticians, social workers and a chemotherapy pharmacist. You’ll also find onsite facilities for conscious sedation and procedures, an infusion center, radiology facilities, onsite Internet access to radiology studies and an onsite phlebotomy service.

We know you want to be close to your child during his or her treatment at St. Christopher’s. That’s why we offer sleeping accommodations for one parent; full, private bathrooms in each room and anterooms to reduce the risk of infection. Your child’s room will also have a TV, phone, and an assortment of DVD and entertainment systems. There is a family lounge and common facilities to use, one-on-one class time with teachers and Internet facilities. St. Christopher’s also has infant/toddler and school-age playrooms staffed by child life professionals.
