When it comes to the brain, only deep experience and expertise will do. The Section of Neurosurgery at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children provides comprehensive pediatric neurosurgery services for problems relating to the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Working collaboratively with other pediatric subspecialties such as neonatology, neurology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, otolaryngology (ENT) and oncology, the Section ensures high-level, compassionate, coordinated care for infants, children and adolescents.
The pediatric neurosurgeons at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children work collaboratively with other pediatric subspecialties to offer multidisciplinary care for your child. As a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, St. Christopher’s offers pediatric neurosurgery as an integral component of trauma services, and is capable of treating nearly all levels of brain and spinal trauma. In addition, a comprehensive program is in place to monitor and treat children with concussions and other types of head trauma.
St. Christopher’s neurosurgeons also work closely with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in caring for newborns with brain and spinal cord injuries or deformities and with other specialists to provide care for children with spina bifida and cancerous and noncancerous brain and spinal cord tumors.
