Hospital Medicine

The mission of the Section of Hospital Medicine is to provide the highest quality of patient care, excellence in education and leadership in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. The Section of Hospital Medicine is comprised of physicians, known as hospitalists, whose area of expertise is the medical care of patients admitted to the hospital. Hospitalists focus their attention on the unique aspects of inpatient care. Our hospitalists provide medical care for conditions ranging from straightforward general pediatric problems to more complex, multi-specialty issues. Hospitalists coordinate care between the multi-disciplinary team members providing the highest level of treatment for patients at St. Christopher’s. As part of this care, hospitalists coordinate the transition of a patient’s medical care back to his or her primary care physician and appropriate subspecialists. We value effective, efficient, and safe care that is family- and patient-centered.

In addition to patient care activities, members of the Section of Hospital Medicine are actively involved in education and leadership. Local educational efforts include proctoring clinical inpatient rotations for medical students, residents and physician assistant students and leading a variety of academic forums at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Leadership is provided within the institution in the areas of hospital committee work, patient safety and quality improvement. In addition, our hospitalists are actively involved in Pediatric Hospital Medicine outside the institution through presentations of their academic work at numerous conferences and leadership in Pediatric Hospitalist efforts nationwide.

The Section of Hospital Medicine is an integrated model with hospitalists representing St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, Drexel University College of Medicine, Temple University College of Medicine and Albert Einstein Medical Center.
